Attila Stromajer, a renowned designer, has created a standing lamp that is more than just a source of light. Inspired by the universal human need for faith, "Faith" is a standing lamp that serves as a symbol of stability and eternity in a fast-paced, information-packed world. Its statue-like shape, reminiscent of praying hands, is a nod to the sacred symbols found across cultures and religions.
"Faith" is not just a lamp, but a piece of art that can be used in various ways. It can serve as a standing and ambient lamp, a reading lamp, or even be mounted on a wall. The lamp's diversely adjustable illuminants offer many options for altering the lights, expanding its mode of action from soft mood lighting to full illumination. This flexibility in light adjustment allows it to create an ambiance for contemplation, further emphasizing its symbolism of faith.
The lamp is made from ash wood, with a stainless steel base. A natural varnish is applied to the surface, giving the structure lightness and balancing the stability and rigidity of the angular forms. The lamp features three hidden LED circuits: outside, inside, and bottom. These circuits can be switched and set separately or together, and the light intensity can also be adjusted by a remote control. This technical feature provides extraordinary variation options for adjusting the lights.
The design process of "Faith" started in November 2015 in Hungary and was completed in August 2017. The project was a collaboration between Attila Stromajer, the designer, Kalcsó Melinda, the concept consultant, and Szergeev Szergej, the constructor, executor, and technical advisor. The team faced the challenge of creating a piece that does not segregate people by the institutionalized forms of faith. Instead, they focused on the universality of the basic need for faith, avoiding specific religious references.
"Faith" is a testament to Stromajer's innovative approach to design. It is not just a lamp, but a symbol of faith, a reflection of the human need for stability and calmness in a fast-paced, information-packed world. It is a piece of art that illuminates not just space, but the human condition.
